SUNS ADD MARKIEFF MORRIS' TWIN, MARCUS
The Phoneix Suns acquired forward Marcus Morris from the Houston Rockets for a 2013 second-round draft pick.
What does it give the Phoenix Suns
This deal reunites Morris with his twin brother Markieff, and the duo could eventually be the Suns' starting forwards (with Marcus at the small spot and Markieff at the power). Marcus doesn't have a very expensive contract, and adding him gives Phoenix needed depth at forward and, as mentioned, a possible future starter who has obvious chemistry with his brother. Little-used center {P Luke Zeller} has been released to make roster room. This is a nice acqusition for not much of a risk.
What does it give the Houston Rockets
The Rockets needed to move some salary after adding longer-term commitments in their earlier trade with Sacramento for {P Thomas Robinson}, so Morris to Phoenix makes some sense. That said, it leaves the still-playoff-contending Rockets thin and unproven at power forward, since starter {P Patrick Patterson} was moved to Sacto and now sometimes-starter Morris heads to Phoenix. That means Houston likely needs to mix and match the rest of the way with raw rookie Robinson, undersized {P Carlos Delfino}, and possibly rookie {P Donatas Motiejunas}.
Fantasy impact
Morris is an intriguing and well-rounded forward who further muddles an already-muddy forward rotation in Phoenix. Head coach Lindsey Hunter must now decide which of {P Marcus Morris}, {P P.J. Tucker}, and {P Michael Beasley} will start at small forward. Zeller's departure doesn't affect things much for the Suns. Meanwhile for Houston, Delfino and Robinson both get an immediate boost in fantasy value (since they seem the top options now at power forward for the Rockets), while Motiejunas suddenly becomes more radar-worthy.
