KINGS GET A BARGAIN IN JAMES JOHNSON

The Sacramento Kings acquired forward James Johnson from the Toronto Raptors for a 2014 second-round draft pick.

What does it give the Sacramento Kings
The Kings tend to covet highly athletic players and Johnson fits that description in a major way. He also may be the team's answer to longtime issues at small forward, which should allow star guard {P Tyreke Evans} to return to shooting guard (which he prefers). Johnson has star-level talent as a do-it-all small forward but he has now been traded by two teams in three seasons, so clearly he needs to change his approach a little. At the very least he can be an above-average defender at the 3-spot for Sacto.

What does it give the Toronto Raptors
The Raptors liked Johnson's athleticism and potential but clearly weren't thrilled with his attitude (as a demotion last season outlined). Moreover, the recent signing of {P Landry Fields} made it clear Johnson was in tough for minutes at small forward (with {P Linas Kleiza} also still in the fold). Above all Toronto frees up some cash here while solving a potential locker-room issue by moving Johnson.
