The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired guard James Harden from the Los Angeles Clippers for guard Darius Garland and a second-round draft pick in 2026.
What does it give the Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavaliers have been knocking on the door for a few seasons now, but they have not been able to get over the hump. Will the mercurial but talented Harden be the final piece to the puzzle? It's unlikely.
What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers decided to end its current era that had been led by Kawhi Leonard and Harden. Leonard remains but Garland will now be charged with replacing Harden at the point. He is younger but also more prone to injury.
Fantasy impact
Both Harden and Garland could be in better situations with their new teams, but both players come with a lot of risk. Harden is great when he is in the right frame of mind but can also be unreliable. Garland's injuries have been a problem for much of his NBA career. Buyer beware on both star guards!
