HIGHSMITH HEADED TO BROOKLYN

The Brooklyn Nets acquired forward Haywood Highsmith and a second-round draft pick in 2032 from the Miami Heat for a protected second-round draft pick in 2026.

What does it give the Brooklyn Nets
The Nets land a quality veteran forward who can play either the three or the four position. Highsmith can either start or come off the bench but he is currently sidelined after having undergone knee surgery. He may not be ready for the start of 2025-26–and may not stick around with the rebuilding Nets.

What does it give the Miami Heat
For the Heat, this trade seems like a classic salary dump. Miami will likely look for a Highsmith replacement with the money saved by moving his salary out. The Heat also had to send a future second-rounder in this trade, while only receiving back a protected second-rounder six years earlier.

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Highsmith heads to a rebuilding team who will likely send him packing again as soon as he fully recovers from knee surgery.
