ATLANTA GETS ALEXANDER-WALKER
The Atlanta Hawks acquired guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker from the Minnesota Timberwolves for a second-round draft pick in 2027, a trade exception and cash considerations.
What does it give the Atlanta Hawks
The cousin of NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Alexander-Walker is obviously not at the same level as an NBA guard. However, he has some untapped upside and may get a chance to unleash it with the Hawks. He is a good addition.

What does it give the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves were not going to be able to afford Alexander-Walker for much longer, since he was a bench player for them–albeit a great one. So, Minnesota took what they could get in return. It is an underwhelming return, though.

            Fantasy impact
It may be time to move Alexander-Walker up on many draft boards this year. He could end up starting alongside Trae Young in Atlanta, which may become a great guard combination in 2025-26. Draft him in the later rounds.
