ALEXANDER-WALKER ADDED BY UTAH
In a three-team trade, the Utah Jazz acquired guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker from the Portland Trail Blazers, and forward Juancho Hernangomez from the San Antonio Spurs; Portland acquired forward/guard Joe Ingles, forward Elijah Hughes and a future second-round draft pick from the Jazz; San Antonio acquired guard Tomas Satoransky from the Trail Blazers and a future second-round draft pick from the Jazz.
What does it give the Utah Jazz
The Jazz needed some help off the bench after losing Joe Ingles to injury recently. So, Alexander-Walker will likely take over for Ingles, who was included in this big deal. Hernangomez is merely a depth piece at forward for Utah at this point.
What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
The Blazers wasted no time sending Alexander-Walker packing after acquiring him from New Orleans. Ingles might help Portland eventually, but he is not expected to play again this season. Hughes has yet to find his niche at the NBA level.
What does it give the San Antonio Spurs
For the Spurs, sending Hernangomez to Utah and getting back Satoransky and a second-rounder does make sense, since Hernangomez was not part of San Antonio's rotation. It remains to be seen whether Satoransky will see any playing time with the Spurs.
Fantasy impact
This trade does not do much for any of the players dealt. Alexander-Walker is likely to see far less playing time in Utah than had he stayed in Portland, while Hernangomez, Satoransky and Hughes are not locks to be in their new teams' respective rotations. Ingles remains sidelined to injury.
