LAKERS LAND ANTHONY DAVIS

In a three-team trade, the Los Angeles Lakers acquired center/forward Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans; the Pelicans acquired guard/forward Brandon Ingram, guards Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart, forward De'Andre Hunter, a conditional first-round draft pick in 2021, a conditional first-round draft pick in 2024 and the right to swap first-round draft picks in 2023 from Los Angeles, and cash from the Washington Wizards; and the Wizards acquired forward/center Moritz Wagner, guards Isaac Bonga and Jemerrio Jones, plus a second-round draft pick in 2022 from Los Angeles.

What does it give the Los Angeles Lakers
Well, the Lakers got their man...finally! There was a lot of drama involved here, and it took a lot more time to complete than anticipated, but Los Angeles was finally able to put a package together to entice the Pelicans and land Davis, who will now team with LeBron James to form a deadly duo in Hollywood. The Lakers paid a very steep price here and are now shorthanded in terms of the roster, so they will need to be active in free agency. That said, the Lakers have now become a prime destination for free agents once again.

What does it give the New Orleans Pelicans
For the Pelicans, this deal should satisfy eventually (even though losing Davis will be a short-term hit). Ingram should be an impact player in New Orleans, provided he is healthy (he had blood clot issues that required surgery in March, but he is expected to make a full recovery). He will team with No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson to form a lethal forward combination. Ball should become the new point guard in New Orleans and fill a glaring hole. Hart will provide guard depth, as well. Furthermore, the Pelicans will receive the Lakers' first-rounder in '21 if it is not a top-8 selection (they will otherwise get LA's '22 pick). The Pelicans will also receive LA's first in ' 24 and have the option to swap firsts in '23 and '25.

What does it give the Washington Wizards
For the Wizards, this part of the deal was completed so as to give the Lakers an opportunity to land a third max contract (after Davis and LeBron James). Washington receives Wagner, who could become a factor off the bench in D.C. as a stretch big man, plus point guard Bonga and shooting guard Jones. All three players might get some playing time on the rebuilding Wizards in 2019-20, plus the club will also receive a second-rounder in '22 from the Lakers. It remains to be seen whether the Wizards helped the Lakers more than they helped themselves by being included in this deal.

Fantasy impact
Davis and James together should provide plenty of fireworks in 2019-20, and both men should benefit from this trade. That said, Ingram could be the biggest winner after this deal if he can stay healthy. He will come out from under James' rather large shadow and become a perfect complement to Williamson in New Orleans. Ball may have the ball, no pun intended, a little more with the Pelicans (which is his best asset), so he too should benefit from the trade. Hart will come off the bench, which was his role in LA, so his fantasy stock could be unchanged. As for the trio of new Wizards, Wagner has the most fantasy upside of the group and all three of Wagner, Bonga and Jones could get significant minutes in Washington moving forward. All three are now on the fantasy radar.
