LINDSTROM TO COLORADO
The Colorado Rockies acquired pitcher Matt Lindstrom from the Houston Astros for pitchers Wes Musick and Jonnathan Aristil.
What does it give the Colorado Rockies
Despite the fact he had a so-so 2010 season in Houston--blowing several saves opportunities and spending a fair amount of time on the DL--veteran Lindstrom may be a good fit in Colorado as a setup man (and safety net) to closer Huston Street. He still possesses a strong arm and, if he can get his control back, may be a nice addition for the Rockies.
What does it give the Houston Astros
Besides getting rid of a hefty contract (Lindstrom is expected to make more than $3M in 2011), the Astros are welcoming two pitching prospects in Musick and Aristil. The lefty Musick may be a couple of years away from major-league duties as a starter but he definitely showed some potential in the South Atlantic league in 2010. As for righty Aristil, he's definitely a long shot.
