BLUE JAYS REACQUIRE C DIONER NAVARRO
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired catcher Dioner Navarro from the Chicago White Sox for pitcher Colton Turner.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays currently lead the American League East and are setting themselves up for a long postseason run in October. Therefore, reacquiring popular catcher Navarro makes sense at this time. He will provide depth for starter Russell Martin behind the plate and be used as a solid bat off the bench.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The White Sox got back veteran starting catcher Alex Avila, so they needed to make a roster move. Instead of sending down the younger Omar Narvaez, they decided to move on from Navarro. In return, Chicago receives a decent reliever in Turner, whose future is as a potential situational lefty.
Fantasy impact
Navarro's playing time figures to go down now that he is back in Toronto, instead of starting a lot of games in Chicago. Navarro is not a good fantasy option down the stretch. As for Turner, he could be in the bullpen mix for the White Sox in 2017.
