RANGERS ADD TWO ARMS FROM ATLANTA
The Texas Rangers acquired pitchers Dario Alvarez and Lucas Harrell from the Atlanta Braves for infielder Travis Demeritte.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers have been struggling lately, and must now hold off the fast-charging Houston Astros in the American League West division. Therefore, Harrell (who will be used as a starter) and Alvarez (who will pitch out of the bullpen) will try to help Texas stop the bleeding.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
For the Braves, Demeritte gives them another option at second base for the future. The 21-year-old native of Georgia is an impressive offensive player but may not be ready to help Atlanta before 2018 (though Demeritte could see time in MLB next season if he progresses).
Fantasy impact
Demeritte could now be viewed as Atlanta's second baseman of the future (though they currently boast two shortstops of the future in Dansby Swanson and Ozzie Albies, so one of them may eventually move to the keystone position), and has obvious keeper-league value. As for Harrell and Alvarez, there isn't much fantasy stock to speak of here.
