BLUE JAYS, MARINERS SWAP VET RELIEVERS

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Joaquin Benoit from the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Drew Storen and cash.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays designated Storen for assignment, so they are hoping veteran Benoit (39 years old) can provide a little better late-inning relief down the stretch. Expect Benoit to join forces with fellow greybeard Jason Grilli as the main setup men for talented young closer Roberto Osuna.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
For the Mariners, this move allows them to get a little younger by swapping veteran Benoit for the soon-to-be 29-year-old Storen. The latter really struggled to get comfortable in Toronto but may push Mariners closer Steve Cishek for the ninth-inning role if he establishes himself in Seattle.

Fantasy impact
The two veteran relievers could be in line for more holds in their new uniforms, but only Storen is a more viable saves option at this point. Both relievers are hoping a change of scenery helps turn things around.
