RANGERS REACQUIRE C BOBBY WILSON
The Texas Rangers acquired catcher Bobby Wilson from the Detroit Tigers for pitcher Chad Bell.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers are familiar with veteran Wilson, since he spent part of 2015 with them (and was also drafted by Texas in 2002). He'll provide catching depth and some insurance, replacing fellow vet Chris Gimenez (designated for assignment) in the process.
What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers felt comfortable with Jarrod Saltalamacchia as the backup to James McCann (who recently returned from a stint on the disabled list), so they decided to move Wilson and take a chance on Bell, a journeyman lefty who can both start and relieve.
Fantasy impact
There isn't much fantasy value to speak of here, as Wilson will continue to serve as a depth catcher and Bell is a midling prospect without much upside.
