YANKEES ADD LEFTY OUTMAN

The New York Yankees acquired pitcher Josh Outman from the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

What does it give the New York Yankees
The Yankees have done a great job this season of patching together their pitching staff, despite countless important injuries. They do need reinforcements for the September stretch drive, however, so Outman may be useful for them. He has experience as both a starter and reliever but will probably be used as a long man out of the bullpen in the Bronx.

What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
The 29-year-old left-hander had been designated for assignment, waived and outrighted off the Indians' 40-man roster in late June, so clearly he was no longer in the team's plans. So, they moved him to the Yanks for a minimal return (which is always better than getting nothing back).

Fantasy impact
Outman is mostly a long reliever at the big-league level these days, so don't expect much in terms of fantasy value for the duration of his playing days.
