BLUE JAYS ADD OF CHAMBERS FROM HOUSTON
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired outfielder Adron Chambers to the Houston Astros for pitcher Alejandro Solarte and infielder Will Dupont.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
Chambers is a 27-year-old, multi-tooled outfielder who has not been able to put things together at the big-league level. He saw time in Major League Baseball in each of the past three seasons with St. Louis but batted just .216 in 88 at-bats. He'll provide some depth to Toronto's outfield situation, especially if the team decides to deal pending free agent center-fielder {P Colby Rasmus}.
What does it give the Houston Astros
Solarte is a young lefty with a projectable 6-4 frame who doesn't turn 20 until September. The Venezuelan will continue to be brought through the minor-league ranks very slowly but could turn into a diamond in the rough in a few years time. As for Dupont, he's a 20-year-old infielder who plays predominantly second base. Like Solarte, he's several years away from contending for a roster spot in Houston. That said, the Astros did very well here to add two young prospects.
Fantasy impact
Chambers doesn't have much value as he's nothing more than a depth outfielder who could perhaps return to the big leagues as a bench player. Solarte has some long-range upside in the deepest of keeper leagues, while Dupont is someone to monitor in the coming years. This deal isn't really going to make a fantasy impact (if ever) for quite some time.
