DODGERS ADD VETERAN IF YOUNG
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired infielder Michael Young and cash from the Philadelphia Phillies for pitcher Rob Rasmussen.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
In Young, the Dodgers add a veteran bat off the bench and possible starter at third base. He'll also see a little time at first base to spell fellow vet {P Adrian Gonzalez} but won't play everyday in Los Angeles. Still, he could be an important piece in the Dodgers' quest for a World Series crown.
What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
Rasmussen is a diminutive lefty who pitched well at Double-A Chattanooga this season but really struggled at Triple-A Albuquerque. He may have to settle for a bullpen role at the big-league level, but at least the Phillies received something in return for a veteran infielder in decline.
Fantasy impact
Young's fantasy value for the rest of 2013 has virtually disappeared with this trade, as he won't see many starts down the stretch. As for Rasmussen, he's a major long shot to ever have much fantasy value at the big-league level.
