CONTRERAS TO COLORADO

The Colorado Rockies acquired pitcher Jose Contreras and cash from the Chicago White Sox for pitcher Brandon Hynick.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies seem a little desperate right now, because Contreras hasn't pitched well for some time now. He is versatile, however, so perhaps that was the motivation to acquire him.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The White Sox are probably glad to be rid of Contreras, who lacked consistency for most of his tenure in Chicago. They even paid Colorado to take him off their hands, but landed a decent prospect in Hynick in return.
