The Baltimore Orioles acquired pitcher Eduarniel Nunez from the Athletics for cash.
What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
In Nunez, the Orioles add a depth right-hander who could still have some potential. The 26-year-old reliever has excellent strikeout ability, but that comes with extreme control problems. He has also struggled to limit hits in his first few MLB call-ups. Baltimore has optioned Nunez to Triple-A, and perhaps a change of scenery can help him find some consistency.
What does it give the Athletics
Nunez was part of the package the Athletics got back in the Mason Miller trade, so it is a bit disappointing to see him gone already. Still, he struggled at all levels in 2026, so the A's are moving forward with some cash coming back from the Orioles.
Fantasy impact
Nunez has been too volatile to stay in the big leagues so far. He will remain off the fantasy radar unless he develops into a high-leverage reliever, which is not looking too likely at this point.
