He can work as a starter or reliever, and has shown flashes of potential at the big-league level in recent seasons. However, he has been hittable, allowing too many baserunners. The 26-year-old now gets another fresh start with the Twins.

The Rays were using Gomez as a long reliever to start the season, but he did not impress with a 6.23 ERA and 1.67 WHIP through 17.1 IP. He came over in a trade in 2025. Tampa Bay will now move on with cash as they take a look at other options in the organization.
