LEGUMINA TRADED TO TAMPA BAY
The Tampa Bay Rays acquired pitcher Casey Legumina from the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Ty Cummings.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
In Legumina, the Rays add a depth reliever with some big-league experience. The right-hander has not been very effective against MLB hitters, but Tampa Bay must still like his potential. They will give him a look in middle relief, though he may need to impress to keep a job in the big-league bullpen.
What does it give the Seattle Mariners
Legumina appeared in 48 games for Seattle in 2025 despite posting a 5.62 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. He was not showing signs of improvement to start the new season, so they DFA'd him before this trade. The Mariners did well getting a younger pitcher back. They know Cummings well, too, having drafted him and then traded him to Tampa Bay in the Randy Arozarena deal of 2024. The right-hander has worked his way up to Double-A and Triple-A ball, so he might be able to earn an MLB call-up in the next few years.
Fantasy impact
Neither Legumina nor Cummings is on the fantasy radar, so this trade will not have an impact.
