McDERMOTT DEALT TO THE DODGERS
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher Chayce McDermott from the Baltimore Orioles for pitcher Axel Perez.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
McDermott adds depth and some versatility to the Dodgers pitching staff. The right-hander can work as a starter or multi-inning reliever. He has been hit hard in his few MLB appearances to date, but he has shown good strikeout ability in the minors, so Los Angeles must still like his potential. They optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City following the trade.
What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
McDermott had a down year in 2025, so Baltimore is moving on here and adding a prospect instead. Perez, a 20-year-old right-hander, is just coming off his first year in Rookie Ball, where he managed a 5.40 ERA in 10 games (9 starts). He is a lottery ticket but could still have a future in the organization.
