The Nationals add to their pitching depth by bringing in Lovelady. He gives them another left-handed option in middle relief. The veteran has changed teams frequently the last few seasons, also spending time in the Minor Leagues. He will be trying to earn a stable job in Washington's bullpen.

Lovelady managed a 3.68 ERA to start the season with the Mets, but they designated him for assignment around other roster moves. The southpaw was not going to be a long-term contributor in New York, so they did fine adding cash here.
