NICK RAQUET BROUGHT IN BY BALTIMORE

The Baltimore Orioles acquired pitcher Nick Raquet from the St. Louis Cardinals for infielder Brayden Smith.

What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
Baltimore's pitching staff is dealing with injuries early in the season, so Raquet will provide additional depth. The 30-year-old left-hander has only a few games of MLB experience, but he is coming off a strong 2025 season in the minors (2.24 ERA, 1.09 WHIP). A former starter, Raquet can cover multiple innings as well. He could get a look soon with the Orioles.

What does it give the St. Louis Cardinals
Raquet was behind a few southpaws on St. Louis' depth chart, and they had designated him for assignment around other roster moves. Seeing as Raquet has primarily been a career minor leaguer, the Cardinals did fine here getting an infield prospect in return. Smith was a 13th-round pick in the 2025 draft, and he should have more of a future in the organization.
