The Twins could use bullpen depth, so they bring in Acton here. The right-hander has a few games of MLB experience and was effective in Triple-A ball in 2025. For now, Acton will serve as middle-relief depth in the minors. He should get his next big league opportunity in the near future.
What does it give the Miami Marlins
Acton was in Miami's organization for just a few weeks before getting designated for assignment. He was not in their long-term plans, so the Marlins take a chance on a younger relief pitcher prospect. A 19th-round pick in 2024, Whitaker had a decent debut season, working his way up to Double-A ball in 2025.
