MEAD MOVED TO WASHINGTON

The Washington Nationals acquired infielder Curtis Mead from the Chicago White Sox for catcher Boston Smith.

What does it give the Washington Nationals
Mead provides Washington with added infield depth and versatility. He has not had much success against MLB pitching so far, but the 25-year-old has hit well in the minors, has some pop and can play first, second or third base. He should serve as a bench bat or depth in the minors with the Nationals.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Mead was unable to carve out a role with the White Sox, so they move on from him and pick up a catching prospect. Smith is just beginning his career after going in the sixth round of the 2025 draft. He could become more of a contributor in the organization than Mead was going to be at this point.

Fantasy impact
Mead would need to earn more playing time to be worth considering in fantasy leagues. He will have plenty of competition for at-bats in Washington, too, so this trade likely will not help his cause. Pass.
