BOSTON AND MILWAUKEE SWAP SIX PLAYERS

The Boston Red Sox acquired infielders Caleb Durbin, Andruw Monasterio and Anthony Seigler, and a Competitive Balance Round B draft pick in 2026 from the Milwaukee Brewers for pitchers Kyle Harrison and Shane Drohan, and infielder David Hamilton.

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox add infield depth and versatility with this trade. Durbin should see plenty of at-bats at second or third base this year after a promising rookie season in 2025. Monasterio and Seigler will have to earn roles and could start out in the minors. After several additions to the pitching staff this off-season, Boston sent a few developing pitchers the other way here and also brought in a draft pick.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Milwaukee had a crowded infield the past few seasons, so they targeted two younger left-handers with potential in Harrison and Drohan. Both should challenge for big league jobs this season. Hamilton is likely to take over an infield bench role. This trade could also signal that the Brewers will give infield prospect Jett Williams a look this season.

Fantasy impact
Durbin, a good base stealer who also hit 11 home runs as a rookie, should get a boost playing home games at Fenway Park. However, his playing time might take a hit with the Red Sox, which would hurt his value. The other infielders in the trade are not big fantasy contributors. Harrison and Drohan have potential as starters, but they probably won't be in the rotation on Opening Day. Keep an eye on them through the year, though, and also how Jett Williams performs this spring for Milwaukee.
