EVELAND TO BUCS
The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired pitcher Dana Eveland from the Toronto Blue Jays for pitcher Ronald Uviedo.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Bucs hope Eveland can help their beleaguered pitching staff, and he should. He is likely to enter their starting rotation immediately and is an upgrade--albeit not a huge one.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
Uviedo looks like a potential middle reliever at the big-league level, so the Jays get a marginal prospect in return for a player they no longer needed in Eveland. It's a good deal.
