LUIS ROBERT MOVED TO THE METS!
The New York Mets acquired outfielder Luis Robert Jr. from the Chicago White Sox for infielder Luisangel Acuna and pitcher Truman Pauley.
What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets continue to load up this off-season, prying Robert Jr. away from the White Sox. The 28-year-old will give New York a star in center field after not getting much offense there in 2025. For Robert, injuries have been a problem the past two seasons, but he still managed 14 home runs and 33 steals in 110 games last year. He could also benefit from now hitting in a much deeper New York lineup.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Robert Jr. was two years away from free agency, so the still-rebuilding White Sox chose to move on now. Acuna headlines the return. The speedy contact-hitter was one of New York's top prospects before debuting in 2024. The younger brother of Ronald Acuna Jr. offers positional versatility and should get a chance to break out in a bigger role in Chicago. As for Pauley, he is a lower ranked pitching prospect, just selected in the 12th round of the 2025 draft. The White Sox get younger here and add some potential to the organization.
Fantasy impact
Robert remains a risky pick given his injury history, but he has a lot more upside than he has show recently. He could be due for a big year with a potentially high-scoring Mets offense. Just do not overrate him (he has surpassed 110 games played in only one season). Meanwhile, Acuna's value is mainly in his stolen bases, but he will need to get on base more frequently to be an impact fantasy player. He is still an intriguing name to take a chance on the next few seasons.
