LOWE TO THE HALOS IN A THREE-TEAM SWAP
In a three-team trade, the Los Angeles Angels acquired outfielder Josh Lowe from the Tampa Bay Rays; Tampa Bay acquired infielder/outfielder Gavin Lux from the Cincinnati Reds, and pitcher Chris Clark from the Angels; and Cincinnati acquired pitcher Brock Burke from the Angels.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels improve their outfield offense by adding Lowe. The 28-year-old has not been able to replicate his breakout 2023 season (.292 AVG, 20 HR, 32 SB), but he still offers an enticing combination of power and speed. Lowe should fill the strong side of a corner outfield platoon as Los Angeles makes moves to score more runs in 2026.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays had a crowded outfield after multiple additions this off-season, so they dealt Lowe and add a player with more versatility in Lux. The former first-round pick should start at second base. He may not have a ton of upside, but he will try to build on a productive 2025 season in which he slashed .269/.350/.374. In addition, Tampa Bay gets Clark, a lower-ranking pitching prospect. The right-handed starter began his development slowly but worked his way up to Double-A ball last season.
What does it give the
The Reds strengthen their bullpen with the addition of Burke. The left-hander has been solid the past two seasons and in 2025 appeared in 69 games, posting a 3.36 ERA to go with 15 holds. Burke can be hittable at times, but he should fill a middle to late inning role in Cincinnati's bullpen.
Fantasy impact
Lowe is the most interesting fantasy player on the move here. He has struggled to stay healthy the past few years, which has reduced his value. The upside is there, however, so he could be worth taking a late flier on. Lux's lack of power or speed will continue to limit his value, but he should still offer respectable run production and OBP for deep leagues. As for Burke, he may start the season as the top left-hander in the Reds bullpen, which makes him a sneaky pick in deeper leagues that count holds.
