YANKEES ADD WEATHERS

The New York Yankees acquired pitcher Ryan Weathers from the Miami Marlins for outfielders Dillon Lewis and Brendan Jones, and infielders Dylan Jasso and Juan Matheus.

What does it give the New York Yankees
In Weathers, the Yankees bring in a high-upside starter who has been slowed by injuries early in his career. The 26-year-old made just 24 starts over the last two seasons but showed lots of potential. If he can stay healthy, the left-hander could become a solid middle-of-the-rotation starter in the Bronx. But there is risk here.

What does it give the Miami Marlins
The Marlins traded from a position of strength–pitching–and got a haul of young players who could improve their offense in coming seasons. Though not top-tier Yankees prospects, Lewis and Jones will now be among Miami's better outfield prospects. Jasso has power potential at first base, and Matheus is a speedy infielder who is still just 21 years old.

Fantasy impact
Weathers is a good bounce-back candidate after making just 8 starts in an injury-shortened 2025 season. He is leaving a good pitcher's park in Miami for Yankee Stadium, but he will also have a better chance at wins pitching for New York. His departure could also allow young Marlins starters like Robbie Snelling and Thomas White to debut in the near future. As for the new Marlins hitters, they are not great fantasy prospects at this time, but keep an eye on them over the next few years. Lewis in particular has an intriguing power-and-speed skillset.
