STRAHM SENT BACK TO THE ROYALS
The Kansas City Royals acquired pitcher Matt Strahm from the Philadelphia Phillies for pitcher Jonathan Bowlan.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
In Strahm, the Royals add a solid veteran reliever to their bullpen. He has been very consistent and durable in recent seasons, and he should slot in as Kansas City's top left-handed relief option late in games.
What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies have several left-handers, so they move on from Strahm and get younger with the addition of Bowlan. The right-hander had a nice debut season in 2025, pitching to a 3.86 ERA in 44.1 IP with 46 K. He should work in middle relief with Philadelphia. If he takes another step forward this year, he could start getting a look in high leverage situations.
Fantasy impact
For now, use Strahm and Bowlan as you were. Strahm will continue get holds and the occasional save in Kansas City. Bowlan is not really on the fantasy radar yet, but his strikeout ability can provide value in very deep leagues.
