ROYALS, BREWERS SWAP THREE
The Kansas City Royals acquired outfielder Isaac Collins and pitcher Nick Mears from the Milwaukee Brewers for pitcher Angel Zerpa.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
The Royals get a couple nice additions here. Collins broke out with the Brewers last season, posting a strong .368 OBP over 130 games. He does not hit for much power, but he should challenge for an everyday role in Kansas City's outfield. As for Mears, he is coming off a solid season, though he can be inconsistent. The right-hander will be another middle to late inning option in the bullpen.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Collins and Mears were dependable players on Milwaukee's 2025 roster, but they decided to target a younger left-handed pitcher in Zerpa. The 26-year-old has been a trustworthy bullpen arm the past few seasons, and the Brewers are considering moving him into the rotation as well. He could be a versatile part of their pitching staff moving forward.
Fantasy impact
The three players dealt here are not big contributors in fantasy baseball, but Collins is probably the biggest winner of the trade, as he could have a clearer path to a starting job in Kansas City. Mears and Zerpa will get their holds, and Zerpa could additionally be worth keeping an eye on if he does become a starter.
