SLATER SENT TO NEW YORK
The New York Yankees acquired outfielder Austin Slater from the Chicago White Sox for pitcher Gage Ziehl.
What does it give the New York Yankees
Slater adds to New York's outfield depth. The veteran is mainly a platoon and bench player at this point, but he can be effective against left-handed pitching and plays all three outfield positions. He is a low-cost addition as the Yankees try to hold on to a playoff spot following the trade deadline.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Pitching continues to be a struggle for the White Sox, so they will take a chance on a new prospect here. A right-handed starter, Ziehl was a fourth-round pick in 2024. He has not been a big strikeout pitcher in the minors this year, but his 70:14 K:BB in 82.1 IP still shows promise. He will continue developing with Chicago.

This trade won't have a fantasy impact.
