Just a month after a trade to the Mets, Canario will now join the Pirates. He is a power hitter who struggles with strikeouts, but he is still young (24) and will get a chance to prove himself in Pittsburgh. Canario may see some at-bats in the outfield and at designated hitter.

Despite having a strong spring, Canario was not a great fit for New York's lineup this season. So, they designated him for assignment on opening day. Given Canario's potential at the plate, the Mets were able to add cash in return from the Pirates.
