DUBON DEALT TO HOUSTON
The Houston Astros acquired infielder/outfielder Mauricio Dubon from the San Francisco Giants for catcher Michael Papierski.
What does it give the Houston Astros
Dubon is a super-utility player capable of playing all over the infield and outfield, so he should be a nice addition to Houston's bench. He essentially replaces Niko Goodrum, who was supposed to be the Astros' utility man this season but was struggling badly.
What does it give the San Francisco Giants
The Giants used Dubon at several different positions in 2022, but the return of a few players from injury deemed Dubon expendable. Papierski will provide organizational depth behind the plate for the Giants, who felt they did not have enough at catcher.
Fantasy impact
There is no need to pick Dubon up because his playing time figures to be more sporadic in Houston than it was in San Francisco.
