TAMPA BAY TRADES WENDLE TO MIAMI
The Miami Marlins acquired infielder Joey Wendle from the Tampa Bay Rays for outfielder Kameron Misner.
What does it give the Miami Marlins
Wendle is a versatile left-handed bat, so he should earn significant playing time with the Fish in 2022. Look for Wendle to play on the strong side of a platoon at the hot corner, with starts at second base and shortstop sprinkled in as well.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays are always looking to refresh their roster, so it should surprise absolutely no one that they parted ways with Wendle this off-season. Misner is a bit older for a prospect (he turns 24 next month), but he owns plenty of tools and talent.
Fantasy impact
Wendle is the type of player who runs hot and cold with the bat. Therefore, he should not be drafted in 2022. Instead, pick him up during the season when he hits his first big hot streak.
