The Mets are currently dealing with several injuries to their outfielders, especially Michael Conforto, Brandon Nimmo and Kevin Pillar, so Maybin adds some veteran depth here. Look for him to be activated relatively soon to provide short-term relief.
What does it give the Chicago Cubs
The Cubs did the Mets a solid here, as they only received cash back for a veteran depth outfielder in Maybin. Chicago does not need Maybin nearly as much as the depleted Mets do at this time, so the Cubs helped New York out here.
Fantasy impact
Even if Maybin is recalled by the Mets, he is not a recommendable fantasy option (even if he winds up playing every day in the short term). Pass.
