The Cleveland Indians acquired outfielder Aaron Cunningham from the San Diego Padres for pitcher Cory Burns.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
Cunningham is a solid right-handed bat who could be in the mix for a starting job in Cleveland in 2012. At worst, he'll likely settle in as their fourth outfielder--or possibly be used in a platoon in left field.
What does it give the San Diego Padres
Burns is a minor-league closer who still has some big-league upside. Since the Pads have let the likes of Mike Adams and Heath Bell go since the tail end of last season, the addition of Burns makes sense at this time.
