In Maton, the Indians acquire a reliever with pretty good MLB experience (112 games). Still only 26 years old, Maton could become a factor in Cleveland's bullpen at some point in 2019 (and going forward).
What does it give the San Diego Padres
The Padres decided to move Maton after he posted a 7.77 earned-run average in 21 appearances this season. They will receive some international bonus pool money as the future considerations in this deal.
Fantasy impact
Maton might become a fantasy factor pitching out of Cleveland's bullpen, eventually. For now, he will pitch for Triple-A Columbus and look to regain his confidence.
