'ZONA REACQUIRES RELIEVER HERNANDEZ
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired pitcher David Hernandez from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for pitcher Luis Madero.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Hernandez knows Arizona well, and vice-versa, so this trade makes sense for the Diamondbacks at this time. Hernandez will set up for veteran closer Fernando Rodney, and also be an insurance policy in case Rodney struggles down the stretch.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels are still on the fringes of the AL Wild Card chase, but decided to sell veteran reliever Hernandez in order to land 20-year-old right-hander Madero--who has struggled in low Single-A ball this season. Did Los Angeles get enough here?
Fantasy impact
Hernandez was enjoying success this season, but his stock might be even higher now that he is back with Arizona and back in the National League. As for Madero, he is a major wild card because of his lack of success this season (but also his youth).
