ARIZONA ADDS INFIELD DEPTH WITH ROSALES
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired infielder Adam Rosales from the Oakland Athletics for pitcher Jeferson Mejia.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The D'backs have issues in the infield right now, with shortstops Chris Owings and Nick Ahmed currently sidelined due to injury and Ketel Marte on the bereavement list. The 34-year-old Rosales is a decent short-term addition who can provide the necessary depth down the stretch.
What does it give the Oakland Athletics
In Mejia, the Athletics land a 22-year-old right-hander with a bright future as a reliever. He is tall and lanky (6-7), and can strike batters out. He does have control and command issues, though, so he will need more development time. Still, he is a good addition in return for a journeyman infielder.
Fantasy impact
Rosales will not play enough to make a major impact with Arizona, while Mejia is not quite ready to be a fantasy factor. That may come with time, though.
