PADRES ACQUIRE QUENTIN
The San Diego Padres acquired outfielder Carlos Quentin from the Chicago White Sox for pitchers Simon Castro and Pedro Hernandez.
What does it give the San Diego Padres
The Padres need more offense, so Quentin should help in that regard. He'll play a corner outfield position in San Diego. While the Pads shouldn't expect the same numbers as when Quentin played in Arizona or Chicago (due to San Diego's spacious pitchers' park), they expect him to help replace Adrian Gonzalez--who was sorely missed last season after his trade to Boston.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The White Sox continue to stockpile quality young pitching prospects. Castro is going to be a very good one, and he may get a better opportunity with the White Sox. As for Hernandez, he is a lefty with good upside but a little further away. Trading away Quentin now frees up playing time for the likes of Dayan Viciedo and Alejandro de Aza.
