CUBS ACQUIRE RIGHT-HANDER ALEC MILLS
The Chicago Cubs acquired pitcher Alec Mills from the Kansas City Royals for outfielder Donnie Dewees Jr.
What does it give the Chicago Cubs
The Cubs are masters at turning careers around these days, or simply giving second chances to inconsistent players. Mills is still only 25 years old, so he has a chance to emerge as a decent relief option for Chicago in 2017.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
For the Royals, they are taking a flier on Dewees here with the hope he can become more than just a fast, backup outfielder in the bigs. It is a good gamble, especially since Mills had been designated for assignment.
Fantasy impact
Neither Mills nor Dewees has much in the way of big-league fantasy value, but they could emerge down the road. For now, take a wait-and-see-approach with both players.
